Area 13 · Act 3 · Crossing the Nullarbor
The Barossa Vintage Offensive
Barossa Valley — Tanunda, Nuriootpa, Angaston: rolling vine rows on low hills, stone Lutheran churches and winery cellars, gullies of river red gum between the terraces.
DAY 131: THE EMUS HAVE ENTERED THE VINEYARDS. THE VINTAGE IS DESCRIBED AS 'AT LARGE.'
The history behind it
The Barossa's Silesian-German settlers had their town names patriotically anglicised during WWI; parody has the district rename itself again — to 'Fortress Vindicated' — the day the emus arrive, and the army requisition the 1932 vintage 'for morale.'

Take all of them and the area is yours. Retreat halfway through and the ones you already hold stay held.
Tanunda Cellar Depot
Grain silo · Defence tier 2
Requisitioned winery cellars stacked with the confiscated vintage. A Rifleman Line guards the ramp behind Barbed Wire; grapes pecked inside the zone count as food nodes, to the newsreel's despair.
Menglers Hill Battery
Gun post · Defence tier 4
Field Artillery on the lookout hill, lobbing shells at the swarm's predicted path down the vine rows. The vine terraces break line of sight — never stop moving, then rush the crew at melee.
Nuriootpa Searchlight Church
Gun post · Defence tier 3
A Searchlight Tower rigged to a stone church steeple, feeding +50% fire rate to a Lewis Gun Post in the graveyard. One thrown rock, one satisfying glass sound.
Angaston Armoured Yard
Headquarters · Defence tier 4
District HQ in the Angaston railyard: an Armoured Car patrolling the main street, immune to pecks, plus a Sandbag Officer. Lure the car into the winery's grape-crush runoff — the valley's own bog tiles.
Seppeltsfield Avenue Picket
Homestead garrison · Defence tier 2
Rifleman Line strung along the famous palm-lined avenue, volleys channelled by the palms into a narrow lane. Flank through the vines; the palms make excellent stick ammunition.
